Catwalk Review: Bottega Veneta A/W 2011/12

Bottega Veneta a/w 2011/12. AP

DESIGNER: Bottega Veneta

INSPIRATION: Betty Draper comes undone. '60s vibe with all things ladylike.

TOP LOOKS: The colour-blocked coats, smart knit skirt-suits in bold hues, marbled dresses with cardis, delicate lace-embellished dresses and deconstructed gowns for evening.

WHO WAS THERE: We spotted top models like Carmen Kass, Karolina Kurkova and Coco Rocha on the catwalk.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Tomas Maier delivered a fresh new take on the Bottega Veneta woman for a/w: Think a kooky sort of Mad Men character with plenty of colour, texture and ladylike appeal. The collection was full of the kinds of gorgeous clothes we want to be wearing, from elegant twinsets to lovely dresses covered in lace. The red carpet-wear also stood out, with dramatic satin gowns that came undone to reveal bits of bustier and corsetry underneath.
