Catwalk Review: Versace A/W 2011/12

DESIGNER: Versace

INSPIRATION: Baroque, à la Gianni Versace.

TOP LOOKS: The red carpet-ready gowns covered in plumage. We're hoping to see one of these at the Oscars tomorrow. We also love the sexy snakeskin pieces - so Donatella.

WHO WAS THERE: Surprisingly, face of the brand January Jones wasn't spotted front-row.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Donatella revisited signature house symbols like the Medusa head - turned into gold buttons - and paid homage to late brother Gianni's favourite flower, the tulip, by emblazoning it on dresses. There was a strong military influence, seen in sharp leather coats and kilt-style skirts, but it was undoubtedly the red carpet gowns covered in feathers which stole the show. Even though the collection revisited Gianni, it was a more toned-down take on baroque than her brother used to deliver.
