Catwalk Review: Marni A/W 2011/12

Catwalk Review: Marni A/W 2011/12

Marni a/w 2011/12 catwalk. PA

DESIGNER: Marni

INSPIRATION: The rigour and discipline of modern dancer Martha Graham, modern architecture.

TOP LOOKS: Geometric print dresses, short jackets worn over longer tunics, the chunky wooden earrings and shoes.

WHO WAS THERE: All the top editors.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: Consuelo Castiglioni continues with her unique brand of quirky femininity at Marni. This season, she used geometry, both in terms of geometric prints (grid patterns, stripes and star patterns decorated her separates) and layering, mixing tops, jackets, skirts and tunics of different fabrics and lengths to create outfits that played with proportion. The strict lines of the silhouettes were softened with girly touches like jewelled necklines, floaty hems and beaded embroidery.
