When I have a few moments to myself - an utterly blissful (if rare) occurrence these days - there's nothing I love to do more than immerse myself in a good book. Reading equals escapism for me and really helps me to wind down from a busy day (or few weeks), shrug off the frenetic pace of work, and re-centre myself.

I'm constantly accumulating new books – both fiction and non-fiction. Fashion history and fashion coffee table books are my favourites but if I am recommended a fab find, I squirrel that book away for a read later too.

If you're like me you're probably always looking for good book suggestions, so I thought I'd share some of my all time favourite reads with you over the coming months. Be warned though – I'll expect you to reciprocate and give me a heads up whenever you stumble upon a good book! Dx

Like Water for Chocolate:

Mexican writer Laura Esquivel's first published novel is a story of love, longing, tradition and food. It centres on a young woman called Tita who dreams of marrying her true love Pedro but can't because family tradition dictates that, as the youngest daughter in her family, she must remain single and take care of her mother until she dies.

I've bought Like Water for Chocolate for loads of my friends. It's one of my all-time favourites and great to share with my romance-novel loving mates. It's such a beautiful book with a very simple message that is timeless. There are recipes dotted throughout and these are entwined with the story. Everyone who reads it will come away with their own notions on love and what it all means. It takes me into another world and is a book I will read again and again.

I never seem to manage to hang on to a copy for very long because every time I have it with me I think of someone who would love it and promptly give it away and buy myself a new one. I've promised my current copy to the J'Aton Couture designers because they have a deep appreciation of love, romance and cooking!
