DESIGNER: Haider Ackermann

INSPIRATION: A recording of Leonard Cohen's love song A Thousand Kisses Deep set the tone for romance.

TOP LOOKS: The silhouette was elongated and narrow, enhanced by the models' dome-like hair. Relaxed belted shawl collar coats in cashmere wool or leather, featuring bunched up sleeves. With liquid silks in burgundy, teal and steely grey draped and engulf the body, with ankle-length skirts were slashed to the thigh.

WHO WAS THERE: Top international buyers and editors were on hand to rush backstage and congratulate the designer post-show.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: After John Galliano, Ackermann is surely one of the most talked about names in Paris at the moment. But in the case of Ackermann, his ears are burning for good reason. The designer revealed yesterday that he might be considering a move to become creative director at one of the major French luxury brands, and this autumn/winter collection that he's got the vision and technical brilliance to pull it off. The only question is, who will be his new employer?
