Penguin Launch Book App For 3-Month-Old Babies

Penguin have launched a book app for babies.

The 'Baby Touch Peekaboo App' will be available in the Apple app store from today.

It is based on the Ladybird books and has been designed for tots from three months old.

The managing director of Penguin Digital, Anna Rafferty said the product would help babies development:

'We are not aware of any other apps designed specifically for babies. The Baby Touch series of books has been extremely popular since its launch in 2005 and we thought it was a good story to turn into an app. We have designed the app in such a way that it helps develop a baby's eye tracking skills, hearing ability and motor and touch skills.'

She added that the app's target age range was 3 to 12-month-old, but that babies as young as six months would be able to operate the app without their parent's help.

The app is downloadable for iPhone, iPod touch or an iPad, at a cost of £1.79.

What do you think?

Would you download this app for your baby?

Or do you find the whole idea is ridiculous?
