Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish have announced they have become parents to a baby boy.
Little Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was born in California on Christmas Day to a surrogate mother. He weighed in at 7lbs 15oz.
The thrilled couple issued a joint statement saying:
'We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment. Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.'
Sir Elton, 62, and David, 48, have been together for almost 18 years, and married in a civil ceremony in 2005. Zachary is their first child.
They tried to adopt a child with HIV from the Ukraine last year, but their application was rejected due to Elton's age, and the Ukraine's non-recognition of their relationship.
Elton and David announced Zachary's birth in U.S. magazine Us, but have said that out of respect for the surrogate mum, they would not be making any further statements.
