Kids Face Pressure From School Tests And Not Enough Family Time

Research undertaken by a parenting website has revealed most mums and dads think school tests put their children under too much pressure. The poll also highlighted how little time children spend playing alone outside.

The Mumsnet website polled parents for ITV1's Tonight programme. The results revealed two-thirds of mums and dads think there is too much testing in schools, while 86 saying their long working hours make it difficult for them to spend enough time with their children.

The survey quizzed more than 1,000 parents about their views on the pressures children face in modern society

Justine Roberts, founder of Mumsnet, said: 'I think there is so much we can do to make Britain more family friendly and child friendly. Employers need to think carefully about the type of commitments they are asking their employees to make. We want the next generation to be well-adjusted we need to give parents time to parent. And that means being flexible in hours and allowing people to work smarter.'
