Madeleine McCann: Detective Claims She Is In The US

An amateur detective has told the police that missing Madeleine McCann was taken to the US when she was snatched from her family's holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.

Marcelino Italiano, 36, has named two suspects and claims Madeleine was taken by an Algarve-based paedophile ring who he says 'can get away with anything.'

Speaking to the Sun Italiano - who is a nightclub bouncer - said: 'I know these people were involved and I have been told that Madeleine may now be in America.

'I can't say how, but I have known these people and believe they can get away with anything.

"I think there have been over a dozen children kidnapped. They prey on the weak and vulnerable.'

He claimed the gang are based in Faro and Albufeira, and had contacts in Portugal's judiciary as well as links to a London legal practice.

Mr Italiano handed over a dossier of information to the police in Huelva, Spain. He says he has been attacked whilst carrying out his investigations, losing a front tooth, adding the gang were 'ruthless'.

Investigators hired by the Find Madeleine Fund are said to be looking into Italiano's claims.
