Man Kidnapped And Abused 10-Year-Old Girl On Way To Pick Up His Own Toddler

A 28-year-old man kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl whilst on his way to pick up his own child.

Kevin Holmes, from Liverpool, has been jailed for at least five years after appearing at Preston Crown Court.

The court heard Holmes - who was on his way to pick up his three-year-old son to take him on a week's holiday - snatched the girl from the street as she made her way back from a sweet shop. He put her in the boot of his Vauxhall Astra, before assaulting her and then abandoning her on wasteland.

Holmes told the terrified youngster he would drown her if she moved.

He later made a sickening call to the mother of his child warning there was a paedophile on the loose in the area.

Holmes admitted kidnap, actual bodily harm and sexual assault at an earlier hearing, where a judge ordered a not guilty verdict on a charge of rape because the little girl felt unable to be cross-examined.

Holmes told police on his arrest: 'I hold my hands up. I've abducted a child and assaulted her.'

Passing sentence yesterday, Judge Christopher Cornwall told Holmes: 'You took hold of her future and put it in jeopardy. More dreadful is you were there to pick up your own child.'
