British parents living abroad claim the UK is one of the worst places in the world to bring up children, according to a survey.
More than 4,100 expat families were polled by the HSBC Bank as part of their annual Expat Explorer survey.
The parents were asked to rate their new lifestyle in terms of the cost of raising children, the quality of the education system, and how easy their children had found it to fit in.
Out of the 14 countries where the HSBC had enough respondents for a 'detail analysis', the UK was ranked as the worst country in which to bring up children.
Top of the list was Belgium where 81 per cent of expats said the standard of education was higher than in their home country, and with 68 per cent saying that childcare was better.
Spain, France and Germany came second, third and fourth. The USA came only slightly above the UK in 13th place.
