Six-Year-Old Applies For Directorship Of National Railway Museum

When six-year-old train spotter Sam Pointon heard the director of the National Railway Museum in York was set to retire, he didn't think twice about applying for the job - after all, he knew all there was to know about trains and such a position would be his absolute dream job.

Little Sam wasted no time in putting in his letter of application, complete with a photograph, and the plea: 'I'm only six, but I think I can do this job.'

Sadly for Sam, the position went to another candidate - but all was not lost - the youngster impressed the recruitment team at the museum so much that they created a role just for him - Director of Fun.
