A tenor delivered his baby son, then hot-footed it to New York's Metropolitan Opera to appear on stage in Le Comte Ory just minutes later!
Juan Diego Florez - who is a world-renowned opera star - had been up all night with his wife Julia as she laboured in the couple's apartment on Mahattan's Upper West Side.
Mr Florez assisted two midwives in the delivery of his son, Leandro Florez, at 12.25pm on Saturday. He then raced from the flat to the Met and was on stage by 1pm!
The proud dad told reporters: 'It was beautiful. It was a home birth with a pool, in the water, it was very nice and very calm.'
He added it had been difficult to leave to carry out his singing commitments: 'I gave the baby to Julia. I was so sad to leave.'
What a dad! We hope the audience gave him a standing ovation!
