Carla Bruni is pregnant, if the chirpings on Twitter are to be believed.
The rumours seem to have started with the French edition of Closer magazine, which features a photograph of the French President Nicolas Sarkozy emerging from the sea to tenderly kiss France's first lady on the stomach (the scene only slightly marred by the fact that he's wearing snorkelling goggles and is at her waist height).
The former Italian super model, 40, has made no secret of her desire for a baby. She has a 10-year-old son Aurelien, from a previous relationship, and Sarkozy has three children from two former marriages. They married in February 2008.
The couple have just returned from a three week holiday on the French Riviera, time for the 54-year-old President to recoup after collapsing while jogging.
