Dad Sacked For Taking Time Off To Care For Cancer-Stricken Son

PA

A devastated dad has claimed a leading supermarket chain sacked him for poor attendance after he took time off to care for his cancer-stricken son.

Steven Davison, 31, alleges his bosses at the Aldi supermarket told him he could take as much unpaid leave as he needed when his six-year-old son Cory was diagnosed with cancer in February.

However, he says that this week he was informed he was being dismissed for poor attendance. Mr Davison, who is from Blyth, Northumberland, says he cannot believe the company's 'lack of compassion' towards him and his son.

Aldi have declined to comment on the case, saying they will discuss it directly with Mr Davison.

Have you been dismissed in similar circumstances?

Do you sympathise with Mr Davison, or can you see Aldi's point of view?
