Lulu Guinness At Clerkenwell Design Week

Lulu Guinness At Clerkenwell Design Week
The three-day festival of design that is Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW) is almost upon us, this year running from 24-26 May.Returning after its successful 2010 debut, the celebration of Clerkenwell as the hub of the UK design industry - (it has more architectural practices per square mile than anywhere else on the planet, fact fans) - spans debates, discussions, presentations and exhibitions as well as installations street parties and workshops.

One interesting addition to this year's event is The House of Detention venue – a subterranean Victorian prison
hidden in the heart of Clerkenwell. Not usually open to the public, it will house installations and innovative product displays throughout CDW.
Another highlight comes from the always fabulous Lulu Guinness, who has created a one-off commission for CDW. The Be a Pin Up installation - a life-sized pin art creation inspired by her iconic Lips clutch bag design, will be housed in front of Clerkenwell Gate for the duration of the festival and visitors to CDW will be able to interact with the installation and make their own full body-sized portraits. Photographers will be on site to capture the impressions created, from which Lulu will be selecting a lucky winner who will get the Clerkenwell clutch. Reason enough to go, but to see the full programme of what's on offer throughout the three days, go to www.clerkenwelldesignweek.com
