Gail Porter Recovering After Reported 'Suicide Bid'

PA

Mum-of-one Gail Porter is said to be recovering at her London home today after reportedly making a suicide attempt.

It's alleged that Gail, who has an eight-year-old daughter, Honey, was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to hospital after being found with lacerations to her chest and arms in her bathroom.

Reports suggest the latest attempt came just weeks after she threatened suicide following a row with her boyfriend Jonny Davies.

Gail was said to have returned home yesterday after being hospitalised. She told The Sun:'I'm fine, thank you very much.'

A spokesman from the Metropolitan Police said: 'Police were called to an address in Belsize Park at approximately 21.00 hours on Wednesday following concerns for the welfare of a resident. A woman was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to a medical facility.'

Her daughter Honey is said to be staying with her father, Dan Hipgrave.

Gail has previously spoken of self-harming, saying: 'I drew a razor across my arm. I really needed to hurt myself. It was a sort of punishment.' She was has talked about taking an overdose in 2005 after the breakdown of her marriage to Hipgrave. She said it was a cry for help rather than a serious attempt at suicide.

We wish her all the help in a speedy recovery.
