A newborn baby has survived three heart attacks in just three weeks, amazing doctors with his recovery.

Alfie Green's heart stopped three weeks after his birth, when he stopped breathing while out with mum, Stacey Green, and dad, Leonard Bratt.

It stopped for 17 minutes the first time, then ten minutes the second, and two minutes during the thrid attack.

Mum, Stacey, said she had noticed his breathing had changed a few days before the attack:

'A few days previously I had noticed that his breathing was quicker. I took him to the doctors who listened to his chest and said he was fine.

'But then he suddenly became very unsettled when we were out shopping and as I was trying to soothe him his lips started to turn purple. Then he stopped breathing. It was terrifying.'

Alfie was rushed to hospital, where doctors said he had suffered a heart attack. He went on to suffer two more, with doctors restarting his heart each time.

Despite fears of brain damage, Alfie seems to have made a complete recovery, after spending a week on a ventilator.

'An ultrasound has shown his brain is normal – and the doctors said it was amazing, but his brain appeared to have mended itself,' explains Stacey. 'If he survived three heart attacks at three weeks old, he's strong enough to survive anything.'

Lucky little Alfie!
