Two-Year-Old Child Left Next To Road After Drunk Mum Collapses On Pavement

PA

A young mum was arrested when her two-year-old child was left next to a busy road whilst she was 'drunk and unconscious' on the pavement.

The woman was found in a collapsed state outside a bar in Lowestoft by a passer-by. CCTV footage showed that her toddler had been out of its pram and close to the traffic on several occasions.

The police arrived at the scene and a breath test showed the woman - who was in her 20s - to be FOUR times the drink-drive limit.

A spokesman from Norfolk Constabulary said: 'Officers spotted the woman who was drifting in and out of sleep with the child in a pushchair beside her. She appeared intoxicated and refused to give police her details and was arrested.'

She was arrested for being drunk whilst in charge of a two-year-old and taken to a police station to sober up. She was later released with a caution.
