If you're considering a trip down the aisle but are balking at the fact that the average wedding costs in the region of £20,000 Peacocks have some rather good news for you in the form of their £60 wedding dress.

The ivory gown is a first for the fashion retailer and will be available from early August - too late for Kate Moss but perfect for an autumn bride on a tight budget.

Peacocks' limited edition white lace prom features a bodice-based nod to Kate Middleton's Alexander McQueen gown with a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves but shuns the full-skirted silhouette Kate sported in favour of draped cotton sateen.

Antonella Bettley (head of ladieswear for the brand) is also well aware of the new royal's style influnce: "Since the royal wedding, we have seen a new trend for sweetheart necklines and lace in our occasion wear. Catherine's dress had elements that translated well for our customers, the classic neckline with the overlay of lace, and full skirt, were not only classically beautiful but also flattering for a womanly figure."

Would you wear a budget gown on your big day?

Peacocks' white lace prom will be available exclusively online from 7 August, sizes 8-18
