While London and Silicon Valley are hardly adjacent, the UK has its fair share of prominent tech industry names shaking up the web from across the ocean.

We've picked ten British CEOs worth watching -- from online retail, to streaming music, to social games for children -- all of whom have had a hand in the Internet's evolution.

As the CEO and co-founder of music-streaming startup Spotify, Ek finds himself in the enviable position of leading one of the most buzzed about music services today. The site has seen incredible adoption in Europe and is set to come to the U.S. any day now. Previously Ek founded Advertigo, an advertising company, and has served as the CTO at Jajja Communications, the CTO at Stardoll and the CEO of MTorrent, a BitTorrent client.
