The nominees for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards are in, with Mad Men and melodramatic mini-series Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet, grabbing a top 21 bids.

Hit show Mad Men, set in 1960s Madison Avenue, has earned 19 nominations, including best drama series, which it has won for three consecutive years.

Boardwalk Empire received 18 nominations and Modern Family scooped 17.

Newcomer Game of Thronespicked up 13 nominations, with 30 Rock scoring 13 and Glee scoring 12.

Melissa McCarthy (Mike & Molly) and Joshua Jackson (Fringe) announced the nominations in Hollywood today and they certainly reflect which shows are popular with audiences at the moment, both in the US and across the pond in the UK.
