Schoolgirl Memorises Pi To 301 In Just Three Evenings!

PA

An 11-year-old schoolgirl has wowed her teachers by memorising Pi to 301 decimal places.

Brainy Alexa McTiffin from Clitheroe, Lancashire, learned the vast string of numbers OFF BY HEART over just three evenings!

The youngster set herself the challenge after learning that a senior school pupil had reeled off 300 numbers of the never-repeating numerical sequence for charity.

Alexa's teacher Jayne Shipley had set mental arithmetic or memory challenge homework, which the class then had to recite three days later - Alexa then used a rhyme to remember the first 15 digits, and then broke the figures down into 10 to 15-number chunks.

Carol Laverick, the head of Westholme Lower Junior School in Lancashire said: 'Alexa is a very bright girl with an exceptional memory.'

Isn't she just! Watch out Carol Vorderman!
