Children's Birthday Parties Go Back To Nature: Camp-Overs Latest Craze

PA

Retailer Halfords claim to have seen a surge in sales of pop-up tents as parents indulge their children's desire for the latest party-craze: Camp-overs.

Gone are the jelly and ice cream days of a front room disco, or an afternoon at the cinema or bowling alley, instead, boys and girls with summer birthdays are getting back to nature and setting up camps in their gardens.

The store says camping parties usually start with a barbecue and then a night of sleeping under canvas.

One mum told the Mirror that her 13-year-old son had the 'time of his life' at a birthday camp-over, where kids 'sat around with their torches telling ghost stories all night.'

What an excellent party idea - weather permitting!

What do you think? Will you be suggesting a camp-over to your youngsters in place of their usual party?
