'The Inbetweeners Movie' Breaks Box Office Comedy Records

'The Inbetweeners Movie' Beats 'Bridget Jones' At The Box Office

The Inbetweeners Movie has smashed Box Office comedy records, with millions turning out to see four hapless teens creating havoc on a lads’ holiday, this weekend.

The spin-off film from the popular E4 series, starring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley, achieved the biggest-ever opening for a UK comedy. Not only did it knock Bridget Jones sequel, The Edge Of Reason, from the top-spot, it also racked in more than £13m from ticket sales.

Rom-com The Edge Of Reason had held the title of the most popular UK Box Office comedy since 2004, despite the sequel being poor compared to the first Jones flick.

It was about time we had a new hit comedy, but it was surprising that a relatively low-budget film, with no A-list cast, became the film with the magic formula to steal the lucrative Box Office crown.

Proud producer Chris Young told the Radio Times: “We are thrilled that The Inbetweeners Movie is the biggest opening of all time for a UK comedy. We really want to thank all the cinema-goers out there who have made the film such a huge success.”
