IN A NUTSHELL: There was a vintage ice cream van and bottles of pink lemonade to sustain fashionistas as they swarmed around Claridges. On entering the Claridges ballroom, we were transformed to fantasy world that was literally bursting with blow up animals (we were tempted to swipe a crocodile) and metre-high ice cream cones for Mulberry's kitsch and frankly OTT take on the great British seaside.
BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: Mulberry classic accessories were reinterpreted in new and rather
covetable shades, from sunny yellow to sage. Despite the vintage mood, it was luxe sportswear that ruled, with trapeze-like shiny kagools, wind breakers, hooded trenches and plenty of drawstring waists and zip fastenings. There was also a smattering of covetable evening wear, pastel column dresses and shifts adorned with clusters of lace appliqued flowers that would make for a pretty spectacular summer bride.
F-ROW: Kate Moss, Kristen Stewart, Erin O'Connor, Ramola Garai, Laura Bailey, Eliza Doolittle and Olivia Palermo all made sure they were sitting front and centre.
VERDICT: Despite the fantastical Carry On Camping meets 'kiss me quick' vibe that Mulberry created, the actual clothes were surprisingly graceful and sleek. Sporty influences have taken root during LFW and Emma Hill's collection gave a convincing argument for luxe sportswear that made us want to reach for a hoodie (accessorised with a plastic crocodile, naturally).
