Eating Low Fat Yogurt In Pregnancy Can Increase Risk Of Allergies In Babies

PA

Researchers at Harvard School of Public Health have discovered that eating low-fat yogurt during pregnancy can increase the risk of babies developing asthma and hay fever.

The study found that mums-to-be who ate low-fat yogurts with fruit once a day were almost TWICE as likely to have babies who went on to develop asthma by the age of seven, compared to the children of women who didn't consume low-fat yogurt. The same children were also found to be more likely to suffer from hay fever.

The scientists are now working on the possibility that low-fat yogurt may be a marker for other dietary and lifestyle factors.

The study will be presented in full at the European Respiratory Society's Annual Congress in Amsterdam on September 25.

Goodness, MORE foods to worry about during pregnancy!
