Who?Balmain

IN A NUTSHELL: This was Olivier Rousteing's big catwalk debut, having taken over from Christophe Decarnin earlier this year. His slightly subtler approach to the Balmain aesthetic saw him "mixing the tailoring of Mexico and the glamour of Vegas" - combining this with the mandatory embellished mini dresses and glam-rock bold shoulders. Very black, white and glitzy gold, the colour palette was peppered with the odd spot of pale blue - while metallic accessories in the form of Western-style buckle-front belts and cuff bracelets provided the finishing touches.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: If we were feeling particularly brave then the high-waist embellished hotpants or a gold gilt mini would make head-turning partywear, otherwise we wouldn't say no to the chic sharp-shoulder blazer.

F-ROW: Fashion heavyweights Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld and Rachel Zoe, plus singer Ciara

VERDICT: Stepping into Decarnin's shoes is no mean feat - Balmain reached new heights under his watchful eye, becoming one of the hottest brands of the latest decade. But in sticking with the underlying glam rock-chick ethos which has made the fashion house so popular, Olivier has made for a remarkably smooth transition. And let's not forget he's only 25 years old: we're looking forward to seeing the future results as he grows in confidence.
