High-Street Store Launches Super-Sized Fitting Rooms For Larger Shoppers

Bigger Fitting Rooms Created For Larger Customers

A retail chain has introduced a super sized ‘fitting lounge’ to accommodate its larger customers.

Plus-sized brand, Simply Be, recently launched the new-look fitting rooms in a store in Liverpool and Manchester, where normal-sized changing rooms were replaced with jumbo-sized versions.

The fitting rooms aren’t only bigger, they also feature sprawling sofas and ‘magic mirrors’, which take pictures of the customer in their outfit and allow them to email the snaps to friends for their opinion.

Customers don’t even have to leave the privacy of the fitting room to make their plus-size purchases as cash registers are located in the changing area. The aim of the vamped up, roomy changing room was to avoid customers feeling awkward when trying on clothes.

The retail brand previously sold clothes in catalogues and online only so their larger customers could save the embarrassment of trying on clothes in a store.

Simply Be plan to roll out five more of the super sized fitting rooms in 2012.

Was it purely coincidence that this article was next to one about American tourists in Britain. Americans probably need these outsize changing rooms more than Brits.

All Americans are clearly always larger, always. I mean, there is no such thing as skinny there!

I am not surprised, I walk down my local High Street and see at least 25 to 30% of people are over weight, of these 10% ate clinically obesed. This is a real problem, and cost the NHS a lot of money, I think these people should be made to contribute to these extra costs to get the message through.

This one is too easy to comment on. I suppose this is innovative for a previously catalog only store. Instead of wasting unnecessary money, should have paid $8.50 for a plus-sized unemployed, highly educated, experienced, well-dressed, savvy and articulate woman to enter and take pictures of plus sized stores like Catherines, Lane Bryant's dressing rooms and several boutiques in places like New York City and California, who provide higher end clothing for plus-sized women with lots of money to spend on their impeccable wardrobes. Already starting off wrong! You don't need this article to turn plus size women away, it is like saying, "come buy from our store some polyester, elastic waist pants in a plus size; huge neon flowered blousesor big ugly jackets in polyester also. You will lookl lovely in them, you can see for yourself in our BIG, BIG fitting rooms just for your BIG behind to fit in!! Yes, put that also in the grand opening promotion, you will get a HUGE turnout, and have plus sized women breaking down your door to get inside. No charge for this promotional suggestion, speaking as a plus sized woman, it is the least I can do to help your business become successful and expand like your BIG, BIG, BIG dressing room idea.

True, yet what about the fact that there are more alcoholic stores and unhealthy establishments located in areas where health issues are at an all time high and all it would take is fresh food, fruits, vegetables, etc. etc. So these folks must travel and eat what is available. Many lack transportation or information to educate them or transport them to take care of their health issues. These others who are in affluent schools or living above the means of poverty...what is their excuse? Not claiming any racial affiliation because we are all AMERICANS, just stating another opinion on the subject. Opinions are like rectums, everyone has one, just voicing mine and now I am through sharing the OPINION. Be well and blessed. BTW Mpressed with all your former careers.
