Report: Gaddafi's Golden Gun Recovered By NTC Fighters After Slaying

Golden Gun

Former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's iconic golden gun has been paraded by freedom fighters following his death.

Gaddafi was reported killed after the liberation of his birthplace Sirte by National Transitional Council (NTC) forces.

According to reports, a man named Mohammed al-Bibi said that he took the ornate, golden pistol, which Gaddafi had often been photographed holding, after shooting him dead.

Mohammed, who is in his 20s and was filmed by the BBC wearing a New York Yankees baseball cap, said that he found the colonel hiding in a hole in the ground.

He told the BBC that the leader said simply "don't shoot" before he opened fire. He was subsequently hoisted on to the shoulders of his fellow fighters, who chanted "God is great".

Gaddafi was reportedly shot in the abdomen, according to another fighter interviewed by the BBC.

The dead former leader owned several ornate golden weapons, including a rifle which was looted from his Tripoli compound when the capital was liberated earlier this year.

Gaddafi's death appeared to be confirmed after images of his naked, bleeding body were broadcast on Libyan television.

The only thing to be learned from these message boards is how pervasive party politics has become in America. There is not a single topic that is not seen in terms of Republicans, Democrats, Ne-Cons, Liberals, Bush this, Obama that....

Has this obsession with Party Politics gained an entry in the DSM yet? If there was a medication fort it, someone would make billions real fast.

Col. Qaddifi once has dreams of al-Maghreb (formerly Moorish Spain, now five countries in N. Africa west of Egypt, including Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morroco, Mauritania) as a powerful African union with a common market -- an Arab superstate if you will. West Sahara he put under the membership of Morocco. In a recent interview I had with the Polisario Front's Mohamed Beissat (also a West Sahara rep to the UN's Assembly) and who had met Qaddifi, told me the reason repressive regimes like Qaddifi fail is they have no just cause, right is not on their side. "Justice must come first." Beissat also informed me that the Arab Spring really kicked off, not in Tunisia but in a dignity camp where Sahrawi refugees protested the human rights abuses and occupation of two thirds of the Western Sahara by Morocco. A number of protesters were killed by Moroccan military. "We are not slaves, vassals, garbage collectors. We have dignity. We have the right to self-determination as a people," said Beissat.
The Sahara teaches one many lessons, surprisingly, Qaddifi himself a desert nomad, never learned, that even in a land of thirst and fear his people's freedom and dignity came first.

This is clearly a victory for Obama, America, NATO and the people of Libya. Gaddafi was a state sponsor of terrorism, and those who thought the world should do nothing and let Gaddafi massacre his own people should be ashamed of themselves today.

This is what a well thought out intervention looks like: spending a fraction of the costs of the Bush/Cheney wars cost ($2B instead in Libya compared to the trillions still being spent in Iraq and Afghanistan), and not a single American soldier killed.

Just a few nights ago the GOP candidates were criticizing the Libyan intervention, so I hope the media will find all the people who said Obama and NATO shouldn't be going into Libya only months ago and see what they have to say today...

Didn't you see the Huffpo article last month that linked Gaddafi with CIA and how he held and had tortured POWs from Abu Graive and Guantanamo for them?

How long before Libya winds up like Egypt? Soon the middle east will have more Irans and the American public can be proud that it helped this cause along.....more terrorist bombers on the way...let's free Syria next...

So you think it better for the West to maintain stability in the region by propping up dictators who squash regional conflicts?

Dictators that commit crimes against humanity. We, that is the United Nations, should never tolerate murderous tyrants as we did in the past such as Hitler and Stalin.

And when did Falwel ever steal in the name of God to enrich himself? Falwel wasn't rich and built a college in Lynchburg, Va that is today one of the best small coed colleges in the state. Spewing lies as usual.

Hooray for President Obama. The R's that were going after him for being in Libya are now saying it wasn't us. Would be amusing if not so sad.

Indeed. A few weeks ago, it was Obama's fault the US was in this war.

Now, they are saying the US had nothing to do with this.

Funny how none of them remember anything more than two hours ago.

Yeah, one of the few GOP'ers willing to credit O is McCain.
