Bizarrely, Sinitta signed on, sniffed the jungle beans and shipped out - all in swift succession, as soon as she began to suspect that all was not as she had hoped - the contestants would not be staying in a boutique hotel overnight, to take a late breakfast before being limousined to the "set". The singer was on an aeroplane and out of there before you could say 'hairdryer'.
Meanwhile, Freddie Starr IS entering the jungle tonight, but not before a rumpus over his health insurance following heart surgery last year.
The 68-year-old comedian told the Sunday Mirror: "My ticker is no quitter. I'm up for any challenge they throw at me."
He will be joining nine other contestants - and the producers have surpassed themselves this year in creating an eclectic mix of jungle guests. What will Fatima Whitbread and Lorraine Chase have to discuss? Willy Carson and Mark Wright? The mind truly boggles, never mind how Jessica Jane Clement will cope with the bugs.
