Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt At LA Premiere Of Jolie's Directorial Debut - 'In The Land Of Blood And Honey' (VIDEO)

'We Want People To Pray For It To Stop'

Angelina Jolie admitted she enjoys "a challenge" as she premiered her directorial debut, In The Land Of Blood And Honey, in Los Angeles.

The Oscar-winning star - dressed in a one-shouldered navy blue Romona Keveza dress and Jimmy Choo heels - was supported by partner Brad Pitt and dad Jon Voight at the premiere at Hollywood's ArcLight Theatre.

The 36-year-old, who wrote and directed the bilingual drama, said: "I do like a challenge. This film had to be shot in its authentic language and it was the only way it had to be done - yet we wanted to try and reach as many people as possible, so we set ourselves the challenge to try and create a dialogue in as wide a net as possible."

The love story, set amongst the backdrop of the Bosnian war, stars Goran Kostic, Vanessa Glodjo and Zana Marjanovic in the lead roles.

Angelina admitted it's not an easy watch: "We want people to feel what it's like to live in a war and we're also hoping that while people are watching this movie, they're praying that somebody's going to come and intervene, that something will stop this before it gets worse... I feel that's what we should be asking."

Pitt, in a navy Tom Ford suit, said he was " very proud" of his girlfriend for tackling a complex subject.

"Her intention in the beginning was to tell the story of the conflict, but to tell it with people from the conflict. I'm very proud. She's bold," he said.
