Salman Rushdie Tweets A Limerick About Kim Kardashian's Divorce

Thanks to us you should be more than familiar with the latest development in Kardashian-land, namely that Kim Kardashian is divorcing her husband after all of 72 days. Most people aren't particularly surprised by this turn of events. What did take us by surprise was that critically-acclaimed author Salman Rushdie tweeted a limerick about it.

The ode to Kim's divorce came in response to a tongue-in-cheek tweet to the novelist from Twitter user Cat Nyugen asking: "Hey, why are you talking about literature and art, don't you know there's Kim Kardashian gossip to attend to?"

The challenge was also picked up by another user, Andrew Coyne who ventured the Clerihew: "Kim Kardashian / Was a slave to her passion / She married for l'amour / Or perhaps for an hour."

Oh, and to save writing a second post about all of this, Kim has done her first television interview since filing for divorce - you can watch the relevant bits below but it includes the curious quote: "What people are going to say - or not say - is hurtful." It's probably not intended as such but don't you think that phrasing sounds like people not talking about her divorce is hurtful?

You can also hear what her mother Kris had to say on the subject of the wedding profits in our fashion face-off post.
