Hotel Review: Hotel Caruso, Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy

Widely regarded as the very best hotel on the Amalfi Coast, Hotel Caruso embodies five-star luxury with its infinity pool, divine restaurant and gorgeous suites.

The USP: The Amalfi Coast's most luxurious hotel

Book it now if: You want to be utterly spoilt, but in a relaxed environment. Thankfully, this isn't the kind of hotel where you'll be looked down on if you wander from room to pool in your bikini or drive up in a less than perfect car.

Bedding down: There are 48 rooms in total, with the requisite totally OTT suites for those with money to burn. As well as private terraces for all, and even private gardens for those in junior suites and above, MyDaily's favourite treats were the fully stocked bathrooms with goodies from Penhaligon's, Bulgari and Molton Brown.

Feed me: Choose from the alfresco Belvedere, for a taste of the region's best dishes, or the refined Caruso restaurant, where the emphasis is on local ingredients and Mediterranean cuisine. If changing out of your swimsuit sounds like too much effort, the poolside restaurant serves great pizza and salads.

Easily bored: The picturesque town of Ravello is on your doorstep, complete with churches, gardens and, more importantly, gelaterias to visit. Alternatively, jump on the hotel's free shuttle bus to Amalfi, where you can watch the boats, stock up on hand-painted plates and probably eat more ice cream.

What's the damage: Village View Rooms start from approx £550 per room per night, including breakfast

Point me in the right direction: Hotel Caruso, Piazza San Giovanni del Toro 2, 84010 Ravello (SA), Italy (+39 089 858 801; www.hotelcaruso.com). To book, call Orient-Express on 0845 077 2222.
