Hotel Review: The Oberoi, Bali

The Oberoi Bali is an oasis of tranquillity and calm amongst the hustle and bustle of the popular area of Seminyak. Located directly on Seminyak beach, it has everything to offer for the perfect Balinese experience.

The USP: Nestled amongst the palm trees of its extensive landscaped gardens it is almost a mirage, camouflaged by its serene location. Every detail is in keeping with that of a traditional Balinese village, complete with thatched roofs. The Oberoi is renowned as one of the most luxurious hotels in Bali and yet it manages to be totally unobtrusive, understated and quietly breathtaking.

Book now if: You're looking for the luxury tropical holiday of you dreams, the Oberoi can fulfil your every fantasy.

Bedding down: The Oberoi has 60 thatched-roof 'Luxury Lanai' rooms and 14 luxury villas, nine of which have their very own swimming pool. All room have beautifully appointed Balinese bathrooms with sunken marble baths and even the completely natural, Ayuvedic toiletries have been specially made.

Feed me: The breakfasts at the Oberoi are exquisite, made all the more enjoyable by the view of crashing waves and eager early morning surfers. I'd recommend the American breakfast and if you're feeling a little adventurous, substitute your usual Eggs Benedict with local speciality Nasi Goreng, you won't regret it. If you have any space to spare after your delectable breakfast, included in your stay are lavish touches such as afternoon tea and cakes or midday fruit skewers and sorbet.

Easily bored: In keeping with the style of the hotel the spa has beautiful open air massage pavilions and an extensive menu of options including local specialities such as the Mandi Lui. However, no trip to Bali is complete without a little shopping. Seminyak is the antidote to wasteful holiday purchases that make it home in your suitcase never to see the light of day again. It is literally full to bursting with gorgeous clothing boutiques to satisfy the appetite of any fashionista. For the boys there's inclusive body boarding, or even just watching in awe as the talented locals carve up the waves.

What's the damage: Luxury Lanai rooms start from $345, while villas with their own pools start at $650 and also include raised dining pavilions where romantic dinners can be enjoyed overlooking the ocean or gardens. Trailfinders (0845 050 5871) is offering seven nights at The Oberoi, Bali in a Luxury Lanai Garden View room with return flights and private transfers from £1, 449 per person. This includes one free night and 10% off resort food and drinks saving over £200 per person. The price is subject to availability and valid for stays from 1 May 2011 to 30 June 2011.
