Daniel Craig: I connected with Blomkvist

The Book Daniel Craig Couldn't Put Down

Daniel Craig has revealed he enjoyed reading The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo novel so much he couldn't put it down.

The actor, who plays Swedish journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the new film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's book, was a big fan of the best-selling crime thriller.

"Someone gave me a copy of the book on holiday and I read it in two days. It's one of those books you just don't put down. There's this immediate feeling that bad things are going to happen."

Bond star Daniel admitted he felt an instant affinity with the character he ended up playing.

"I like his attitude. He's fighting the good fight, trying to uncover corruption and to be an influential journalist."

But the actor admitted the film's director David Fincher could be demanding.

"David's very specific and... what's the nicest way to say it? Particular," he laughed.

"But once you see the way he builds a scene brick by brick, it's an easy process to relax into. You give yourself over to it, knowing he's got his eye on all the important details."

The first film in the planned trilogy, which also stars Stellan Skarsgard, Geraldine James and Steven Berkoff, opens in cinemas on Boxing Day.
