A young woman who was 'so looking forward to being a mum' has died just hours after giving birth to her little boy.
Nicole Taylor, who was 20, was forced to give birth to baby Harris 13 weeks early after she developed the brain condition encephalitis. Despite frantic efforts by doctors at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to save her, the young mum fell into a coma and passed away.
The Daily Mail reports that little Harris is in the hospital's neo-natal unit, but his condition is not known. He weighed 2lb 8oz when he was born on Monday afternoon.
A member of her family told the Mail that Nicole had been healthy throughout her pregnancy and that the whole family were 'devastated': "She was such a charismatic person who was looking forward to being a mum. The family will absolutely dote on Harris," the unnamed relative said.
Nicole's dad David, 53, mum Caroline, 51, and boyfriend Kieran Finlay, 26, were thought to have been at her bedside when she died.
