Download Movies: TorrentFreak's List Of Top 10 Pirate Films Of 2011

Top 10 Illegally Downloaded Movies Of 2011

Blog site TorrentFreak has released a top 10 chart highlighting the most illegally downloaded movies worldwide in 2011.

Titles with a male appeal feature heavily on the pirate list, with Fast Five, the latest offering from the Fast and the Furious franchise landing top spot with 9,260,000 downloads.

Stag weekend comedy The Hangover Part II charted second (8,840,000 downloads), while Kenneth Branagh's comic book adaptation Thor landed third (8,330,000 downloads), despite mixed reviews.

Pirate behaviour appears not to follow box office trends with the highest grossing film of the year, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, coming in at tenth place (6,030,000 downloads). However, low-grossing Sucker Punch landed sixth place (7,200,000), probably due to the prevalence of bikinis.

Surprising absentees from the list include Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which both did well at cinemas.

In 2010, Avatar was the most pirated movie, downloaded an astonishing 16 million times.

According to the site, the data for the list was collected from several sources, including reports from thousands of BitTorrent trackers. All release formats, including 'cammed' (bootlegged ripped versions) were counted.
