Men of the world rejoice - Ellie Goulding is kicking off 2012 as a single lady after reportedly splitting from boyfriend Greg James.

The Starry Eyed singer hit it off with Radio 1 DJ Greg when he attended one of her gigs and they went public with their romance in 2010.

The relationship got off to a racing start when they teamed up for the Great South Run in Portsmouth, but it seems the romance has now run its course - The Sun reports they split just before Christmas.

A source tells the paper: "Things had not been right for a while but they only called it a day a month ago.

"It was just a real struggle for them to be in the same place at the same time. The split is amicable and they are still friends."

Ellie then did what any girl would do after a break-up - she rounded up her pals and jetted off for some sunshine in Thailand.

Jessie J joined her, and Ellie is clearly looking forward to a fresh start in 2012 - during the holiday, she tweeted, "Next year is mostly about my new record, being a good person and my first marathon. Really grateful for my life."

Ellie turned 25 on 30 December - here's hoping she found a nice new man for a birthday kiss on the trip!
