Louis Vuitton Announces Dotty Collaboration

Luxury brand Louis Vuitton has confirmed that Marc Jacobs (Louis Vuitton's creative director) has collaborated with Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, famed for her polka dot works.

According to WWD a spokesperson confirmed the news and described Jacobs as "a longtime fan of Kusama." She also went on to reveal that the brand planned to display artwork by the artist in the Louis Vuitton flagship store on New Bond Street when the collaboration launches in stores in early July.

Even if you don't know Kusama by name you might remember her from her participation in the Hayward Gallery's Walking in My Mind show which saw her wrapping trees along the Southbank in red and white spotted tape. Or you may have see her spectacular Obliteration Room as part of the Queensland Art Gallery show Look Now, See Forever. Or you may have heard about Tate Modern's major Kusama retrospective - of which Louis Vuitton is a sponsor - which kicks off in February and is going to be so image-friendly you won't be able to move for coverage.

So, are you looking forward to the polka dot pairing?
