Loose Women Rally Round Andrea McLean Following Split With Husband

Loose Women Rally Round Andrea

Loose Women's Andrea McLean has thanked her fellow co-stars and TV viewers for their support following the announcement she was to split from her husband.

As the presenter returned to work yesterday she thanked fellow panelists Jane McDonald, Carol McGiffin and Jenny Eclair for helping her get through a "rocky" few days.

Speaking of the split she said: "I wanted to bring it up to say a huge thank you to the lovely ladies here for all their support and to everyone at home, thank you so much. It really got me through."

Andrea announced she was separating from husband Steve Toms after nine years together, as she said they had "grown apart".

The star put on a brave face for the paparazzi as she was spotted smiling with a huge bunch of flowers as she left the ITV studios where Loose Women is filmed yesterday.

The star has said she was taunted and teased after moving to the UK from Trinidad, where she spent her early years.

"When I was 15 we moved back to the UK - and to the misery of bullying.

"From my first day at school in Leicestershire I stood out like a sore thumb. Dark eyes, dark skin and a broad Caribbean accent. 'You speak like a monkey and you lived with all the black people, and they all live in trees,' it began.

"It was open season on me for two years. I never said a word to my parents."

The star also admited she is still bullied to this day, but has learnt to cope with rude remarks.

"I've worked in the TV industry for 15 years, so of course I have experienced bullying. IT HAPPENS. But now I'm not afraid of confronting someone who is behaving badly towards me."
