Snowboarding Airbag Saves Pro-Snowboarder From Avalanche (VIDEO)

WATCH: Airbag Saves Professional Snowboarder's Life

'Snowboarder saved by airbag' - It doesn't seem to make any sense when it's written down, does it? But as this video proves, snowboarding airbags really do exist, and they really do work.

Based around the idea that the main problem with avalanches is the inability to excavate the wounded quickly enough, the Backcountry Access 'Float 30' is designed to keep skiers and snowboarders on the surface of the moving snow without being dragged underneath.

Worn as a rucksack, it also boasts a "external shovel and probe pockets, diagonal ski carrying system, helmet carry system, waist belt pockets, lined goggle pocket and hydration sleeve" - Backcountry Access' words, not ours - making it not just a airbag, but a survival kit too.

The video we've got for you above is of professional snowboarder Meesh Hytner hit by an avalanche at Montezuma, Colorado, who happened to be wearing an airbag at the time.

Thanks to this handy piece of kit, the class-3 avalanche proved no trouble for her and she walked away unharmed. Take that, nature!
