The Wrong Guy Inspires Tory Burch's Autumn/Winter 2012/13 Collection

WHO? Tory Burch

IN A NUTSHELL: "A prim girl who's under the spell of the wrong kind of guy". The setting? The hotel where their secret liaisons take place. Despite this slightly sordid scene set by Burch, looks were prim and proper in the main, with just the odd hint of subversion.

BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: There were plenty of polished nipped in dresses, boucle jackets and snug knits, but we liked it best when a bit of bad girl crept into the look, and this was achieved using peekaboo sheer chiffon panels and a liberal smattering of leather. We particularly loved the burgundy crinkled leather trench teamed with tweed trousers.

F-ROW: Anna Della Russo, Tamara Mellon, and a lot of men in expensive suits who looked like they were en route to Wall Street.

VERDICT: Tory Burch she clearly knows what her fans want. At points it was hard to see where the polished catwalk models stopped, and where Burch's coiffed, slick audience of New York elite began. Burch's look is normally somewhere between boho and preppy, but this season it's all about the latter. When it comes to sorority chic, there is no doubt that Tory Burch is queen bee.
