WHO? Nanette Lepore
IN A NUTSHELL: "The original inspiration was a dandy" Lepore told us on the eve of her show, "but also the work of Francesco Clemente and tarot cards. I've been learning all about tarot and had my cards read just in case anyone starts questioning me about it!" The resulting collection is bright, fun and bold, "I always think about how women want to feel", Lepore continued, " I have happy customers and they want to feel like individuals." True to her word, Lepore offered an eclectic collection laced with burgundy, chartreuse, burnt orange, cyan and shiny gold, with plenty of eye-frazzling jewel prints.
BEG, BORROW OR STEAL: We loved the flirty, drop-waisted frocks. The accessories were also really strong, and we could definitely benefit from a pair of those metallic loafers on our wardrobe.
F-ROW: Kristin Chenoweth, Arianna Huffington and Brian Boy were all sitting pretty.
VERDICT: Such is the breadth of Lepore's fan base that her creations can find their way everywhere from teen starlet Abigail Breslin on the red carpet to Arianna Huffington at the World Economic Forum. But the common thread of easy charm and eclecticism that ran through this collection ensures that none of her loyal customers will be disappointed and all will find something that works for them.
