Brit Awards 2012: Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse Remembered In Short Tributes

Whitney Houston was served pitifully poorly at last night's Brit Awards, with a rushed video compilation remembering the pop diva who died ten days ago in Los Angeles.

Houston, who had a string of British single hits throughout the 1980s and 1990s, was remembered right at the beginning of the show, with host James Corden flatly introducing a swift video montage of Houston in action, while her song One Moment In Time was played.

Later in the ceremony, British singer Amy Winehouse was given a lot more time. Show producers played a black and white photographic montage of the jazz chanteuse who died last year, while audiences heard her describe her work in her own words: "I write songs and I sing."

Winehouse's comments were revealing. She said "I thought I'd be a waitress or something”, and more poignantly, "it's good to sing because you take a bad situation and make it good."
