But Rihanna seems pretty keen to buck that trend as she jumped on the London Underground with the plebs yesterday.
Whatever next? Cheryl Cole jumping on the number seven bus? Lady Gaga biking it in to work?
The singer hopped on a Jubilee line train to rehearsals for her Brit Awards performance at the O2 yesterday, journeying from her central London hotel to the North Greenwich venue.
She was probably pushed for time after a heavy night of partying for her 24th birthday the night before, where she pulled an all-nighter in a £8,000 penthouse room at the Corinthia hotel.
Either that or she's watching her carbon footprint all of a sudden.
But while we're quite frankly shocked at Ri-Ri's very unshowbizzy behaviour, it isn't the first time she's taken the tube.
When she was late for one of her O2 gigs last year, the singer travelled in, errr, style on the underground then too.
Let's just hope she didn't forget to touch out.
