The White Choice: Palest Pale Is The Colour Trend At The Oscars 2012

Snow white was the top colour trend on the Oscars 2012 red carpet. But it definitely wasn't a case of identikit bridal outfits as we watched Gwyneth Paltrow, Octavia Spencer, Rooney Mara et al sashay their way towards the awards ceremony in their gowns.

If pushed, we'd have to say that Rooney Mara's Givenchy dress was our favourite... right up until Gwyneth arrived arrived in ultra-chic Tom Ford and caused us to spend the next five minutes squealing "GOOP CAPE!" into our wine glasses.

Sacha Baron Cohen also got in on the white trend action by turning up in character as The Dictator and emptying the contents of an urn over Ryan Seacrest. FYI the "ashes" (Baron Cohen referred to them as Kim Jong Il's remains but Seacrest contends they smelled more like Bisquick pancake mix) were also in the popular pale hue.

Let's just hope no-one spills a canape down anyone's couture frock during the after parties...
