'The Help' brought Octavia Spencer an Oscar for best supporting actress

The Help was the surprise home-grown hit of this year's Awards season, garnering Octavia Spencer an Oscar and BAFTA for her role as southern maid Minny Jackson, in the tale of black maids and their white mistresses, in early 1960s Mississippi.

Octavia Spencer's castmates included Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Bryce Dallas Howard and Allison Janney - a classy roll call rewarded at the Screen Actors Guild Awards with the gong for Best Ensemble.

To mark today's release of the film on DVD, we have an exclusive clip of Octavia Spencer and her director Tate Taylor meeting some real-life helps who enjoy the chance of reliving the best of their experiences for a visibly moved Spencer and Taylor.

Well, those are the kinds of "interviews" (my daughter's a doctor now, if you need my blood I'd give it to you) which would make ANY patronizing Southern white employer happy......and not have to question himself..... But then, "The Help" is a movie/ book which seems to be locked in a 1965 time capsule. Will we ever get beyond "magic Negroes" in Hollywood movies?
