Coronation Street
Coronation Street used Manchester Police to help with murder plot

The police who helped make the Frank Foster murder mystery plot as realistic as possible have been sworn to secrecy by Coronation Street bosses.

Evil rapist Frank (played by Andrew Lancel) was found dead in his factory, and his girlfriend Sally, her ex-husband Kevin, his ex-fiancee Carla, her lover Peter and Carla's sister-in-law Michelle all became police suspects.

Viewers have all been wondering who is the murderer, but the Manchester CID already know, and have been sworn to secrecy, The Sun reports.

Soap bosses wanted the police questioning of the suspects to be as realistic as possible, and so handed the scripts over to the real life coppers for advice.

Greater Manchester Police helped to guide writers on police procedures, including making an arrest and carrying out interviews.

A Corrie spokesman said: "We always work closely with experts in any particular field to make sure our storylines are realistic."

Ah now see, I think they are making it look so obvious that it was the mother, but what about Jenny ? where has she gone ?

I think we have all guessed right that it was dear Mum that did the dark deed.

This is it..sad but true. It started as a story of "ordinary northern working class folk" and is now a complete farce. I am stunned by the amount of murderers who seem to do a couple of months behind bars then back in the Rovers as though nothing has happened. Seemingly nice husbandy wifey types who's characters have changed to the point where they are unrecognisable. Simpletons running a hair stylist business. Two upbeat and well paid gay men living in a knicker sewers back room. An idiot headteacher and his idiotess of an ex girlfriend of "my Kirky". A nosey old git who wouldn't last a week on any other street before he was punched (very hard) on the nose. A strange woman who seems to live in a parked motor home at the end of the street, a couple with bad Manchester accents destroying a pub who wouldn't recognise a good bar if they were beaten over the head with it. A transvestite actually played by a woman..how dumbed down is that. Finally to test our mettle a lunatic who seemed only to be interested in hurting as many people as he could, we can't have any more long term cast members in court for murder can we, so it's mum, if it isn't I promise you I'll eat my left sock.

Can someone please tell me how Audrey and Rita both in 70's seem to be able to attrack lots of men and have relationships with them, when in reality most women become invisible to men once they reach 50+

It is obvious who it is - study the storyline over the years: An elderly widow woman leaves the street, no mention of her ever dying, then many years later she returns to find her beloved Glad Tidings Mission demolished and a knicker factory built in the street, as the returning elderly woman has never officially been killed off the producers decide this would be an ideal opportunity to do so, she is on finding the mission demolished so overcome with shock and grief that she rushes into the knicker factory and duffs up the owner, with fatal consequences, she hasn't been so excited since she got a telegram from the Queen about 12 years previously and then crawls off to a place where she will be found dead in an episode COMING VERY SOON. For those who haven't figured it out yet it was obviously and definitely ENA SHARPLES!
If this sounds a bit far fetched I'll concede it might possibly have been Dot Cotton.

LOL great...or maybe Norris will walk into his bedroom which smells faintly of Vicks Vaporub, and catches Frank urinating on his beloved poster of a naked Dog the Bounty Hunter, Norris's fave wet dream...he is so overcome with grief that he beats Frank to death with Emily's heaviest wooden wig stand...while Mary watches, smiling and eating gum drops.

If this pathetic storyline was helped allong by the Manchester police, then all I can say is god help anyone who relies on this police force for help, what a farce !!

For some reason whether true or nay the Police are always made to look incompetant in these soap murders.

It was so obvious on friday when the mother was talking to Sally about the watch, it is her, the mother.
I don't know what took us all so long. We could have told them what to do, they didn't need to go to Manchester Police.
