Alicia Silverstone Feeds Baby Mouth-To-Mouth In Breakfast Blog Video

VIDEO: Alicia Silverstone's Bizarre Baby Feeding Stirs Up Storm

Alicia Silverstone has broadcast an extremely unusual feeding method on her blog 'the kind life', showing how she chews her son's food before spitting it into his mouth.

The mealtime technique is more commonly seen in the animal kingdom, especially between mother birds and their chicks. However the 35-year-old actress has taken up the practice to feed her 10-month-old son Bear Blu, now he is eating solid food.

Alicia writes "I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup…from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite...and mine. He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating."

However the breakfast with baby bear blog post has divided opinion, with some commenters on the blog calling the practice "unsanitary" and others saying that they have heard it causes dental decay.

"I do not think this is a healthy way to feed your child. Children should learn to eat with a spoon.

We are not birds, we are humans and if this works for Alicia and Bear then so be it..What is gonna happen when he gets a little older and sees someone eating? It would be quite embarrassing for Bear to go to them and try to eat the food they are already eating.

What is so wrong with a food processor and a bowl and spoon?"

Some compared chewing food for children who have teeth as similar to breast feeding older children.

"I dont think that is something most mothers would want our children doing at the age that they can do it on their own ...it would b as if u kept ur child breast feeding at an age appropriate time for a bottle or cup!"

However many lauded the unusual feeding method as 'holistic' and showing love between a mother and child.

I love everything about this! It is simply beautiful and natural. From breastfeeding to mouthfeeding, it allows a mother to form a special bond with her child like nothing else. Both Bear and Alicia are absolutely adorable! Thank you for sharing this :)
